Along with medications, drink enough lukewarm water and gargle with warm salt water to ease the symptoms.

Most of these are temporary and usually resolve with time. Contact your doctor straight away if you are at all concerned about any of these side effects. This medicine may also cause dizziness and sleepiness, so do not drive or do anything that requires mental focus until you know how this medicine affects you. Avoid drinking alcohol while taking this medicine as it can make dizziness worse. Before taking it, you should tell your doctor if you have any kidney or liver diseases so that your doctor can prescribe a suitable dose for you. It is beneficial to have plenty of fluids while taking this medication. You should also tell your doctor if you are pregnant, planning pregnancy or breastfeeding.
How to Use: Elu Syrup is a combination of five medicines: Cetirizine, Dextromethorphan Hydrobromide, Menthol, Ammonium Chloride and Zinc Gluconate. Cetirizine is an antiallergic which reduces cough associated with allergies by blocking the effects of a chemical messenger (histamine). Dextromethorphan Hydrobromide is a cough suppressant that relieves cough by reducing the activity of cough centre in the brain. Menthol produces a sensation of coolness and relieves minor throat irritation. Ammonium Chloride is an expectorant which helps remove mucus (phlegm) from the airways. Zinc Gluconate releases zinc ions into the throat. These ions prevent the cold virus from reproducing due to which the virus dies off faster and the cold ends sooner.
Safety Advice: If you miss a dose of Elu Syrup, take it as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular schedule. Do not double the dose.
