This lowers the cholesterol, thereby preventing a heart attack or stroke (or deep vein thrombosis or pulmonary embolism). Make appropriate lifestyle changes (such as eating healthy and staying active) to maximize the effectiveness of this medicine.

You should take this medicine regularly to get the most benefit, even if you feel fine. It is preventing future harm. It may cause side effects like dizziness, flushing (sense of warmth in the face, ears, neck and trunk), headache, nausea, and vomiting. You must report to doctor if these effects bother you or your condition does not improve. Before taking it, you must inform doctor if you are suffering from any kidney or liver disease. Also let your doctor know if you are pregnant or breastfeeding and about all the other medications that you are taking regularly.

It improves circulation by releasing histamine, which causes the blood vessels to dilate and breaks up a protein needed for the clotting of blood. It also prevents the formation of lipids in the body, which helps to lower cholesterol and triglyceride levels.
