Introduction: In Dry cough A dry cough is a cough where no phlegm or mucus is produced. It may cause a tickling sensation or itching in the throat and may be due to cold, flu, allergies or throat irritants. Histolate Tablet suppresses severe dry cough and gives you relief from an itchy throat. Apart from this, it also reduces symptoms of allergy like watery eyes, sneezing and runny nose. Along with taking Histolate Tablet, gargling with warm salt water and having ginger or honey can help you manage dry cough.

Benefits: Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. Histolate Tablet may be taken with or without food, but it is better to take it at a fixed time.

Description: Histolate Tablet is a combination medicine used in the treatment of dry cough. It relieves allergy symptoms such as runny nose, stuffy nose, throat irritation, sneezing, watery eyes and congestion or stuffiness. Histolate Tablet is taken with or without food in a dose and duration as advised by the doctor. The dose you are given will depend on your condition and how you respond to the medicine. You should keep taking this medicine for as long as your doctor recommends. If you stop treatment too early your symptoms may come back and your condition may worsen. Let your healthcare team know about all other medications you are taking as some may affect, or be affected by this medicine. The most common side effects are nausea, vomiting, constipation, lightheadedness, shortness of breath, and sweating. Most of these are temporary and usually resolve with time. Contact your doctor straight away if you are at all concerned about any of these side effects. This medicine can also cause dizziness and sleepiness, so do not drive or do anything that requires mental focus until you know how this medicine affects you. Avoid drinking alcohol while taking this medicine as it can make dizziness worse. Never support self-medication or recommend your medicine to another person. Keep it out of reach of children. It is beneficial to have plenty of fluids while taking this medication. Before taking it, you should tell your doctor if you have any kidney or liver diseases so that your doctor can prescribe a suitable dose for you. Pregnant or breastfeeding women should consult their doctor before taking this medicine.

How to Use: Histolate Tablet is a combination of two medicines: Chlorpheniramine Maleate and Codeine, which relieves dry cough. Chlorpheniramine Maleate is an antiallergic. It blocks the action of a chemical messenger (histamine) which may trigger cough due to allergy. Codeine is a cough suppressant. It suppresses cough by reducing the activity of cough center in the brain.

Safety Advice: - Alcohol : UNSAFE - Histolate Tablet may cause excessive drowsiness with alcohol. - Pregnancy : CONSULT YOUR DOCTOR - Histolate Tablet may be unsafe to use during pregnancy. Although there are limited studies in humans, animal studies have shown harmful effects on the developing baby. Your doctor will weigh the benefits and any potential risks before prescribing it to you. Please consult your doctor. - Breast feeding : SAFE IF PRESCRIBED - Histolate Tablet is probably safe to use during breastfeeding. Limited human data suggests that the drug does not represent any significant risk to the baby. Larger doses or prolonged use of Histolate Tablet may cause sleepiness and other effects in the baby - Driving : UNSAFE - Histolate Tablet may cause side effects which could affect your ability to drive. As Histolate Tablet may cause dizziness, blurred vision or the inability to think clearly. - Kidney : SAFE IF PRESCRIBED - Histolate Tablet is probably safe to use in patients with kidney disease. Limited data available suggests that dose adjustment of Histolate Tablet may not be needed in these patients. Please consult your doctor. Use of Histolate Tablet may cause excessive sleepiness in patients with end stage kidney disease. - Liver : CAUTION - Histolate Tablet should be used with caution in patients with liver disease. Dose adjustment of Histolate Tablet may be needed. Please consult your doctor.

If Missed: If you miss a dose of Histolate Tablet, take it as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular schedule. Do not double the dose.
