In Prevention of organ rejection in transplant patients Tacrefite Eye Ointment belongs to a group of medicines known as immunosuppressants. Organ rejection happens when your immune system treats the new organ as an invader and attacks it. This medicine weakens your immune response (which usually fights infection) and reduces the chance of your body attacking the transplanted organ. It is used in combination with other medicines to make it much more likely that your transplant operation will be successful. You should continue taking the medicine and should not stop it until your doctor says so.
Benefits: This medicine is for external use only. Take it in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Check the label for directions before use. Hold the tube close to the eye without touching it. Gently squeeze the tube and place the medicine inside the lower eyelid.

Follow the instructions given by your doctor and use it in the dose and duration suggested by the doctor. Make sure you remove contact lenses if you wear them and wait for at least 15 minutes before putting them back. You must inform your doctor if there’s no improvement even after two weeks of treatment or if it gets worse. The most common side effects of Tacrefite Eye Ointment include eye irritation and burning sensation. Do not use Tacrefite Eye Ointment if you are pregnant or trying to become pregnant, or if you are breastfeeding.

If Missed: If you miss a dose of Tacrefite Eye Ointment, take it as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular schedule. Do not double the dose.
